Publication : 13 Octobre 2017
Many believe motivation to learn is the key element in language learning.         However, if a look is taken at researches in motivation, it is hard to say what motivation is. This paper begins with the definition of both motivation and interest and the description of their kinds. Then it breaks down into parts which enhance motivation and interest. Finally, it addresses how we can motivate students in language learning. It specifically comes up with factors influencing on the effective learning of English by secondary school girls in Fizi territory. Among other things, not knowing the importance of English in the present-day world, the quality of teacher, language-learning environment and the exposure to the language have been the causes of Fizi territory schooled girls ‘lack of motivation and interest in learning the English language. Our findings about the Fizi territory girls is that the little motivation they have is demotivated by a number of factors among others not knowing the importance of English, the quality of English  teachers is not appreciable, lack of language-rich learning environment and lack of exposure to English.
