GENERAL CONCLUSION

This research paper is entitled, “characterization and thematic study in Dangarembga’s Neria”. It has dealt with two aspects of the English literature, which are characterization and thematic study. This study has been carried out through three chapters apart from the general introduction and the general conclusion. The first chapter has dealt with the review of the relevant literature on characterization and thematic study. It has given optimal and necessary pieces of information about key concepts used in studying characters and themes. It has also studied the literary strategies or techniques which were applied to the study of “Neria”, the narrative on which the present research paper is based. The second Chapter has tackled characterization in “Neria”. It has helped reveal character’s actions, reactions and interactions as well as their personalities and the relationships between them. This chapter has analyzed characters in terms of main and subsidiary characters as social members of their environment. The third and last chapter has focused on the thematic study in “Neria”. It has described the different major themes revealed throughout the narrative “Neria”. This research paper ends with a general conclusion which is followed by an appendix of the exhaustive movie under study.

The study has analyzed two aspects of literature, namely characterization and thematic study. It has resulted in the revelation of the characters and the different themes that the novel develops. It therefore opens the way to prospective researchers who would like to exploit other aspects of literature as the field is still very large.
